◈ MONEY MATH
What One Gang Sheet Is Actually Worth
Most people look at a gang sheet price and think about what it costs. I look at what it's worth once it's on shirts. Here's the math on one sheet.
The sheet
A 22" × 60" gang sheet is 1,320 square inches. At $0.020 per square inch, that's $26.40.
What fits on it
- Full fronts (11" × 11"): 2 across, 5 rows down = 10 designs, about $2.64 each
- Left chests (3.5"): 6 across, about 17 rows = roughly 100 designs, about $0.26 each
What 10 full fronts can make
These are example numbers. Plug in your own blank cost and price.
- Sell price: $25 per shirt
- Blank: $4 per shirt
- Transfer: $2.64 per shirt
- Profit: $18.36 per shirt, or about $183 per sheet
That's before shipping and fees, but you get the point: the transfer is one of the smallest costs in the whole shirt.
How to get more out of every sheet
- Fill the gaps. Tuck left chests, sleeve prints and neck tags into the empty space around big designs.
- Order bigger, less often. One 60" sheet beats three small ones with three shipping charges.
- Mix designs. You don't need 10 of the same thing. Put your best sellers and a few tests on one sheet.
